NATALIE CLEIN, cello. Natalie came to prominence after
winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 1994 with her
performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto. She was also the first British winner
of the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians in Warsaw. She first started
playing cello at the age of six, and studied at the Royal College ofMusic and
also in Vienna. Natalie made her concerto debut at the Proms in 1997. She is
also a regular chamber performer, working with such musicians as Julius Drake,
Kathryn Stott, the Belcea Quartet, Tabacs Quartet and the Nash Ensemble.
KATYA APEKISHEVA, piano. Born in Moscow, Katya entered the famous Gnessin School of Music at the age of six. She continued her studies at the Rubin Academy ofMusic in Jerusalem and in 1994 moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music where she won the President's Rose Bowl for the most outstanding pianist of the year. In 1996 she was London Philharmonic/Pioneer Young Soloist of the Year. She has played in many different countries with top orchestras worldwide. Future plans include recordings for BBC Radio 3 and a CD release. |
