The 77th Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 18th June 2014. The business meeting was followed by an illustrated talk by John Winter, organist, teacher and lecturer, who also delivers an annual WEA music course held at the Vision Hall each spring. The subject was Another Bach?
Johann Sebastian’s second surviving son, Carl Philip Emmanuel was born 300 years ago; at first dominated by his father, he had to adapt to the demands of the court, society and church in a way that his father would have found strange. He didn’t tolerate fools, either!
The 76th Annual General Meeting meeting in 2013 was followed by “My Life with the Guitar” in which Eric Hill, a Radlett resident and professional guitarist, played a number of pieces for us. During a 25 year career Eric presented recitals worldwide, recorded several highly acclaimed albums of classical repertoire and made many broadcasts for the BBC. For those of you who could not make it, or those of you who want to hear some more of his music, examples of his playing can be heard here.
